American Vet dogs
To help those who have served our country honorably live with dignity and independence.
The service dog programs of America’s VetDogs® were created to provide enhanced mobility and renewed independence to United States veterans, active-duty service members, and first responders with disabilities, allowing them to once again live with pride and self-reliance. Not only does a service dog provide support with daily activities, it provides the motivation to tackle every day challenges.
VetDogs trains and places service dogs for those with physical disabilities; guide dogs for individuals who are blind or have low vision; service dogs to help mitigate the effects of post-traumatic stress disorder; and facility dogs as part of the rehabilitation process in military and VA hospitals.
Enchanted Backpack
Enchanted Backpack, a 501(c)3 organization, was started with the belief that all children deserve to have the tools they need to learn and excel and that all teachers deserve to have the support and materials to make their classrooms exciting learning centers.
Through our buying savvy, we load vans with school supplies, books, coats, art supplies, athletic equipment, personal necessities and more. The vans – think of them as huge magical and mystical backpacks – make deliveries throughout the entire year to qualifying public, private and charter schools, who have applied and been accepted for the program.
Humanitarian Service Project
Our mission is to alleviate the pain and suffering that poverty brings to seniors and children in DuPage and Kane Counties, Illinois, without discrimination or exclusion for any reason.
The Humanitarian Service Project (HSP) is a grassroots organization founded under the guiding principle of “people helping people in need.”
Little Brothers – Friends of the Elderly
Women and men 70 and older who are aging alone have a family in Little Brothers. For over 60 years, we’ve been providing steadfast friendship to thousands of older adults who no longer have friends and family to rely on. All our programs and services are always offered at no cost, and our organization receives no government assistance. We depend on the generosity of donors to bring conversation, companionship, celebration and connection to the men and women we serve.
Midwest Shelter for Homeless Veterans
Midwest Shelter for Homeless Veterans is a non-profit agency that provides housing, supportive services, and community outreach to help homeless and at-risk veterans and their families achieve self-sufficiency. Founded in 2007, by Vietnam War veteran Bob Adams and Gulf War veteran Dirk Enger, MSHV operates on a vision to end veteran homelessness so that no person who has defended our homes goes without a home.

Starfish Animal Rescue
Since 2006, we have been helping rescue animals in need through responsible rescue efforts. Thus far, we have rescued over 4000 dogs, with an estimated breakdown of 1500 dogs and puppies per year. With collaboration amongst rescue organizations, we were able to half the euthanasia rate and triple the number of dogs rescued. We have also been fortunate to be able to provide donated dog and cat food for the shelters and the community. By providing these food donations, individuals can afford to feed their dogs that they otherwise would surrender to a shelter. We feel that long-term solutions are the most important goals of any responsible rescue.
We have also helped to establish a low cost spay/neuter program. With continued preventative efforts, we hope to rapidly reduce the number of puppies and kittens coming into the shelter.
West Suburban Community Pantry
West Suburban Community Pantry (WSCP) creates opportunities for our neighbors to thrive by providing nourishing food and access to supportive resources.
Serving over 110,000 individuals in FY2023, WSCP is integral to helping people in DuPage and Will Counties receive the nutrition they need to lead full lives. We work to break down barriers to food assistance, implement new services to best help people in our community, encourage volunteerism, and educate about existing needs.
